 Addie Epilogue
Posted by: Addie Posted on: 05.27.03

Alright, since a few months have passed since the events portrayed in our comic, I thought I'd give everybody a quick wrap-up on what has happened since then, particularly in regards to the "guest" who let himself into my apartment that night. If you read the comic, you know who I'm talking about... if not, all you need to know is that there was a suspicious man in my neighborhood who made the mistake of breaking into my place the night Pest first showed up. Anyways, it ended badly for him, as he got a nasty lump on his head and an all-expense-paid trip to the local jail. (Where they took the lovely portraits seen above.)

After breaking into my place and threatening me at knife point, I was pretty sure he'd be put away for a while, but the strangest thing happened the next day. I went to the police station to give my official statement, and the woman at the counter told me it wasn't necessary. When I asked why, she told me that they'd let him go, as there weren't going to be any charges brought against him and... well to be honest, I don't know what else she said, as I was pretty shaken up by the news. I stumbled out of there in a daze.

After that, I spent a few sleepless nights fretting about him coming back. When nothing happened, I got back to life as normal, but I still get the creeps thinking that he's out there wandering around. Even writing about it now puts me a little on edge.

Addie, I keep telling you that he got off on a technicality. They probably made a backroom deal and set him up with a new identity so he could live out the rest of his days on a small farm in the midwest, where he can become a productive member of society despite being haunted by the demons of his criminal past. Without DNA evidence, the whole case was probably largely circumstantial anyways.

What the heck are you talking about, Pest? You don't even know what a technicality is, do you?

I do too know what a technicality is. It's that thing in movies that allows really good villains to keep coming back.

That's what I thought. Tell you what.., if he comes back, I'll send you in to discuss the finer points of television law with him, based on your extensive knowledge. If that doesn't scare him straight, it should at least confuse him enough to give me time to make a clean escape.

 Pest Great!

Do you think he saw last week's episode of "Law & Order?" 'Cause I still have a few questions about the specifics of that case...
