 Sylvie Lament
Posted by: Sylvie Posted on: 09.19.03

A moment of silence in rememberance for the plucky iMac seen here.

It, along with a smattering of other not-too-inexpensive items, was stolen from my coffee shop earlier this week despite what I must imagine was a valiant resistance on the part of the employee on duty, Addie -- who I later found unconscious at the counter amidst the wreckage. I'm sure the iMac put up a fair fight, too, but, alas, it was not enough.

My apologies to any customers who were inconvenienced due to our misfortune.

 Addie Guilt
Posted by: Addie Posted on: 09.19.03

Sylvie, I am sooooo sorry about this. I feel really, really, really bad about this. I was kind of hoping this would slide by without a mention, but I guess I have to face up to it...

As you no doubt surmised (given the sarcasm in the post above), I fell asleep on the job and someone took advantage of an easy score. I honestly don't remember anything except putting my head down on the counter during a slow spot in the day and waking up later to find you standing over me with a devastatingly dissappointed countenance.

I'd been having trouble sleeping before that (which invariably led to my little nap), but now I just can't sleep at all for the guilt. Is there any way I can make it up to you?

Hey! I recognize the perp from Addie's post! He's right here.

No wait, that guy has the question mark on the opposite side of his head... maybe it's a relation?

Oh, and I find it curious that neither of you actually saw the thief but both visual renditions clearly show a male committing the deed. Like no woman would possibly commit a crime?

 Sylvie Forgiveness

Not now, Pest. (And the sooner you acknowledge the inherent moral superiority of women, the easier your life will be.)

Addie, I'll admit I was livid at first, but then I realized that the insurance money would allow me to get a shiny new iMac or eMac to spruce up the place. I mean, who uses a Turquoise version anymore?

Seriously, though, I know it was out of character for you -- I'm concerned about you, kid. Anything you want to talk about?

Thanks, Sylvie. I've just been dealing with a bit of anxiety recently... I'm not sure what of... and I have the worst nightmares when I manage to sleep... I'm not sure I'd like to discuss it here...

Imagine that, a girl living with a monster having nightmares...

Let's talk about this offline, Addie. I think you need an understanding friend right about now.

And, Pest: if you chime in with a quip, I'll report you straight to the Weekly World News for a guaranteed front page feature next to the Bat Boy...

 Pest Bat Boy?

Yes ma'am!

That wasn't a quip, was it? I was just offering my good natured assurance of compliance.
